Alan Mathison Turing OBE, FRS [ˈælən ˈmæθɪsən ˈtjʊəɹɪŋ] (* 23. Juni 1912 in London; † 7. Juni 1954 in Wilmslow, Cheshire) war ein britischer Logiker, Mathematiker, Kryptoanalytiker und Informatiker. Er gilt heute als einer der einflussreichsten Theoretiker der frühen Computerentwicklung und Informatik. Turing schuf einen großen Teil der theoretischen Grundlagen für die moderne Informations- und Computertechnologie. Als richtungsweisend erwiesen sich auch seine Beiträge zur theoretischen Biologie

Alfred Vaino Aho (* 9. August 1941 in Timmins, Ontario, Kanada) ist ein kanadischer Informatiker. Von 1997 bis 2002 war er Vizepräsident des Computing Sciences Research Center der Bell Labs, wo er vor allem für die Software-Entwicklung zuständig war. Danach wurde er Lawrence-Gussman-Professor für Informatik an der Columbia University.

Sie wurde im Wesentlichen von Gregory Chaitin, Andrey Kolmogorov und Ray Solomonoff entwickelt.
