Im Juni 2016 eröffnete das German Centre Taicang auf fünf Stockwerken mit einer Fläche von insgesamt 8.500 m². Ausgezeichnet mit dem LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) und DGNB Gold (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) Zertifikat stehen deutschen, aber auch internationalen und chinesischen Unternehmen moderne Büroräume in bester Lage zur Verfügung.
Als „3rd tier city“ ist Taicang vor allem für mittelständische deutsche Unternehmen sehr attraktiv. Seit 1993 haben sich hier über 480 deutsche Firmen aus unterschiedlichen Branchen angesiedelt. Taicang hat somit die höchste Konzentration an deutschen Produktionsunternehmen in China.
Das German Centre Taicang ist eine Tochtergesellschaft des German Centre Shanghai, welches wiederum zur BayernLB gehört. Es ist Teil eines weltweiten German Centre-Netzwerks mit weiteren Standorten in Shanghai, Peking, Mexiko und Singapur. Die German Centres werden getragen von der BayernLB und der Landesbank Baden-Württemberg. Sie werden unterstützt von Ministerien auf Bundes- und Landesebene sowie Verbänden und Institutionen wie DIHK, VDMA und BDI.
2016年6月，德国中心在太仓开张，坐拥五层楼面，共计8500平方米，获得LEED金级认证（领先的能源和环境设计）和DGNB 金级认证（德国可持续性建筑委员会），为德国及其他国家的企业，包括中国企业提供最佳的现代化办公空间。作为三线城市，太仓对德国中小企业特别具有吸引力，1993年以来，已有超过480家来自不同行业的德国企业入驻，太仓以此成为中国境内德国生产型企业密度最高的城市。
太仓德国中心是巴伐利亚州立银行旗下的上海德国中心的全资子公司，也是全球德国中心网络中的一部分，其他几家德国中心分别位于上海、北京、墨西哥城和新加坡。德国中心分别有巴伐利亚州立银行和巴登符滕堡州立银行投资运作，并获得德国政府和联邦州政府，以及DIHK、VDMA和BDI等行业协会和机构的支持。
