    南非目前是世界上6大有名的葡萄产区之一，它所产的葡萄酒产量占世界总产量的3%。它的主要葡萄酒生产区分布在开普地区。开普地区处于非洲顶端地带，它具有典型的地中海气候。

　　南非有300多年的葡萄酒酿酒历史，1652年，荷兰人率先登陆这片土地，他们认为这里的气候和土壤十分适合葡萄种植，因此创建了第一个葡萄园，开创了南非的葡萄酒酿造历史。

　　1688年，法国的胡戈诺派新教徒为逃避法国天主教的迫害来到南非，他们推动了南非葡萄酒酿造业的发展。

　　由于拿破仑战争切断了法国葡萄酒向英国的供应，使得开普的酿酒业在18世纪得到了蓬勃的发展。然而战争后南非向英国出口的葡萄酒量大幅萎缩，加上1886年的病灾毁灭了南非大片的葡萄园，从此南非葡萄酒业几近陷入混乱。

　　随着1918年南非葡萄种植者合作协会（KWV)的成立，南非的葡萄酒酿造业恢复了稳定，至今，南非葡萄酒业已经发展到拥有葡萄园面积10万公顷，产量达到6亿多升的规模，全国拥有560多个酒窖或葡萄酒厂，成为世界第九大葡萄酒出产国。(Quelle:http://www.wines-info.com)
