In this event the axemen use identically tuned and sharpened chainsaws to cut through a log, once downwards and once upwards, within a 3-inch space of wood. The competitor starts with their hands on top of the log. On a buzzer the axeman picks up the saw and pulls the starting cord and then makes his first cut downward, then his second cut upward. If the saw does not start that is just bad luck and they get a slow time. If the axeman takes over more than the allocated wood then they are disqualified and no time is recorded.
Stockschießen, Eisstocksport bzw. Stocksport, Eisstockschießen oder auch Eiskegeln ist eine Sportart, die vor allem im Alpenraum verbreitet ist und eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit mit Curling hat. Dennoch hat der Stocksport seinen eigenen Schwerpunkt, der als unabhängig vom Curling anzusehen ist. Eisstockschießen ist ein alter Volkssport und, historisch gesehen, dem Brauchtum zuzurechnen, das sich nur in Gegenden mit zufrierenden Gewässern verbreitete und nur im Winter gespielt wurde. In der modernen, von Regeln und Vereinen geprägten Form, wird Stockschießen als Freizeit- oder auch Leistungssport ganzjährig gespielt, und es wird zwischen dem Mannschafts-, Weiten- und Zielwettbewerb unterschieden. Stocksport ist ein Präzisionssport.
Der Dachverband des Sports ist die International Federation Icestocksport (IFI).
冰上滑盘(Ice stock sport、Eisstockschießen)是一项流行于德国和奥地利，类似冰壶的冬季运动[1]。参赛者需把滑盘推到比赛场地另一端的中心点，较近目标的为胜方。这运动曾于1936年和1964年成为当届冬季奥运会的表演项目。此外，虽然冰上滑盘是一项冬季运动，但这运动也可在夏季进行。
