　　卡尔·拉格斐正式成为女装设计师是在一位亲戚新开的名叫柯洛耶（chloe）的服饰店工作，服饰店建立的目标，是认为可将高级时装款式里的高贵典雅与“成衣”的快速流行特性结合在一起，到了70年代以后，卡尔·拉格斐的店名和他那优雅迷人的气度使他名声大振。
 
　　虽然他大部分的服装因为其简洁的样式和具有现代女性的特质而倍受拥戴，然而卡尔·拉格斐的设计仍具有其华丽的一面，那就是单扣手套镶上了扑克牌的图 案，而在印花布上印上数学方程式符号、丝质扇面和阳伞上印上花样以搭配成为格调相仿的礼服。近几年的作品镶上人造钻石的吉他饰物、水龙头造型、螺旋钳和铁 锤等，甚至饰珠上的柯洛斯标鉴都可以缝制在礼服上作为镶边。
