F-35“闪电II”（英语：Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II）是由洛克希德·马丁公司设计及生产之单座单发动机的多用途战机，为全球最多国家引进的第五代战斗机；采用了普惠公司的F135发动机，罗尔斯·罗伊斯公司亦参与了发动机设计[11][12]，自2015年以F-35B为首开始服役。开发厂商洛克希德·马丁以X-35验证机竞标联合攻击战斗机计划（JSF）并获选成为续存设计，进而开发出F-35。此机种主要用于密接支援、目标轰炸、防空截击等多种任务，并因此发展出3种主要的衍生版本，包括采用传统跑道起降的F-35A，短距离起飞/垂直起降机种F-35B，与作为航空母舰舰载机的F-35C；3款皆为具隐身设计的第五代战斗机，其中F-35A与F-35C的作战半径可超过1,000公里。 F-35将是美国与其盟国在21世纪的主力战机。

F-35将是美国与其盟国在21世纪的主力战机，美国空军、海军和海军陆战队总计将装备2,456架[13]，用以取代F-16系列、A-10攻击机、F/A-18系列、AV-8B等机型[14]，加上海外市场后全球订单合计已达3,500架[15][16][17]。英国、意大利、荷兰、澳大利亚、日本、挪威、丹麦、以色列、加拿大、土耳其（已遭禁售[18]）等国均参与研发并可能装备。

Die Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II ist ein Tarnkappen-Mehrzweckkampfflugzeug der fünften Generation, das aus dem Joint Strike Fighter-Programm (JSF) des US-Verteidigungsministeriums hervorgegangen ist. Es soll in den Luftstreitkräften vieler westlicher Staaten die F-16 Fighting Falcon oder noch ältere Flugzeuge ersetzen, wobei die US Air Force weiterhin der mit Abstand größte Abnehmer bleibt. Es ist das vierte von der US Air Force beschaffte Muster eines Kampfflugzeuges mit Stealth-Technik – nach Indienststellung von F-117 Nighthawk (1983), B-2 Spirit (1993), F-22 Raptor (2005) – und das erste, das auch in Partnerländer exportiert wird. Es wird in den Varianten F-35A (konventioneller Start/Landung), F-35B (Senkrechtstart und -landung) und F-35C (trägergestützt) hergestellt.

KC-10补充者（英语：KC-10 Extender）是三发动机麦道DC-10的军事版本，是为美国空军改装而来。KC-10其主要角色是专门结合军事用途，拥有运输和空中加油的设备。它在开发时补充了KC-135同温层加油机的经验，用来在东南亚和中东地区服役。KC-10是美国空军即麦克唐纳道格拉斯的C-9后选择的第二款麦道公司的运输飞机。其共为美国空军生产了60架。及后，有三架二手DC-10客机由荷兰皇家空军购入（其中2架于1992年向马丁航空购入，另一架于2011年购入）并改装为类似的加油机（但窗户并无像原型机般封闭），且被官方命名为KDC-10。
