百老汇剧院（英语：Broadway theater），但许多百老汇剧院、表演者使用“theatre”的拼法。简称百老汇，是指包括在美国纽约曼哈顿剧院区域以及林肯中心一带的剧院所演出的戏剧，其中有39间大型专业剧院拥有超过500座位。因为剧院大多数皆在百老汇街道附近的地方，故被统称为百老汇剧院。百老汇以演出音乐剧著名，亦常常有戏剧、歌剧、舞蹈等等的表演，和伦敦的西区剧院（West End）同为英语世界中最著名的剧院区域。

百老汇剧院区域是纽约市的重要旅游景点。据百老汇联会统计，百老汇在2009年到2010年的剧季的票房收益大约是$10.2亿美金。

百老汇剧院以地理和受大众欢迎的程度分为三种，分别是百老汇音乐剧（Broadway），外百老汇音乐剧（Off Broadway），外外百老汇音乐剧（Off Off Broadway，或译“第三戏剧(界)”、“先锋派戏剧”）[1]。外外百老汇音乐剧有相当多实验戏剧的形式，也最便宜，如果票房很好，就会被移到外百老汇加强宣传，而只有受到大众欢迎、票房非常好的才会在内百老汇上演。在地理上来说，在纽约百老汇大街上，44街至53街之间的剧院称为内百老汇（也就是百老汇），而百老汇大街41街和56街上的剧院则称为外百老汇。

Unter dem Broadway [ˈbɹɑːdweɪ] in New York City versteht man das Theaterviertel in Midtown Manhattan am Times Square zwischen der 41. und der 53. Straße und zwischen der Sixth und der Ninth Avenue. In diesem Viertel gibt es 41 große Theater. Ein „großes“ Theater bietet Platz für 500 oder mehr Zuschauer, die meisten Broadwaytheater haben weit über tausend Plätze. Theater im „Theater District“ von Manhattan und in der übrigen City mit weniger als 500 Sitzplätzen werden heute als Off-Broadway- bzw. Off-Off-Broadway-Theater bezeichnet. Broadway-Theater haben üblicherweise kein Repertoiresystem, sondern zeigen jeweils nur ein Musical oder ein Theaterstück, und dieses täglich, auch mehrmals. Die Spieldauer dieser Stücke ist in der Regel nicht festgelegt (Ausnahme: sogenannte „strictly limited runs“), sondern richtet sich nach der Beurteilung durch Kritik und Publikum.[1] Aufgrund der großzügigen Beleuchtung der Straße und des Platzes wird der Broadway auch „The Great White Way“ genannt. 

ブロードウェイ劇場（英語：Broadway theatre）は、一般にブロードウェイと呼ばれ、ニューヨーク市マンハッタン区にあるブロードウェイ周辺の劇場を指す。ロンドンのウェスト・エンド・シアターと並び、英語圏では最高水準といわれる。

劇場街はニューヨークでも屈指の観光地となっており、北米における商業演劇の事業者団体であるブロードウェイ・リーグによると、2015/16年度の年間観劇者数は13,317,980人、全作品の総興行収入は1,373,253,725米ドルであった[1]。大多数の上演作品はミュージカルで、歴史家マーティン・シェフターによって「ブロードウェイ・ミュージカルはリチャード・ロジャースとオスカー・ハマースタインの作品の大団円のように、非常に大きな影響力のあるアメリカ流行文化の様式となった」と評され、ニューヨークがアメリカの文化の中心となる一助となっている[2] 。

Broadway theatre,[nb 1] also known simply as Broadway, refers to the theatrical performances presented in the 41 professional theatres, each with 500 or more seats, located in the Theater District and Lincoln Center along Broadway, in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.[1][2] Broadway and London's West End together represent the highest commercial level of live theater in the English-speaking world.[3]

The Theater District is a popular tourist attraction in New York City. According to The Broadway League, for the 2018–2019 season (which ended May 26, 2019) total attendance was 14,768,254 and Broadway shows had US$1,829,312,140 in grosses, with attendance up 9.5%, grosses up 10.3%, and playing weeks up 9.3%.[4]

The majority of Broadway shows are musicals. Historian Martin Shefter argues that "'Broadway musicals', culminating in the productions of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, became enormously influential forms of American popular culture" and contributed to making New York City the cultural capital of the Western Hemisphere.[5]

Broadway est un terme désignant collectivement les environ 40 grands théâtres (de 500 sièges ou plus) situés dans le quartier des théâtres près de Times Square à Manhattan dans la ville américaine de New York1,2. Le terme est une reference à la rue Broadway le long de laquelle la majorité des grands et populaires théâtres de New York étaient situés au tournant du XXe siècle3,4, mais depuis lors beaucoup ont déménagé sur les rues avoisinantes4. La section de la rue Broadway qui borde le quartier des théâtres est appelée Great White Way ; elle attire chaque année des millions de touristes du monde entier.

Le quartier de Broadway doit sa réputation mondiale aux comédies musicales qui y tiennent le haut de l'affiche et dont nombre de succès musicaux provenaient des éditeurs et des artistes de la Tin Pan Alley, quartier situé à côté. Beaucoup d'acteurs et de chanteurs espèrent se produire à Broadway et considèrent cette occasion comme un couronnement de leur carrière. On a d'ailleurs écrit plusieurs histoires et chansons sur ce thème du mythe de Broadway. Ce lieu sert à tel point de référence que les théâtres de New York (qu'ils soient ou non situés sur la rue en question) sont classés « Broadway », « Off-Broadway » ou « Off-Off-Broadway », selon leur capacité et la qualité qui leur est reconnue.

Dans les années 1920, 200 pièces et comédies musicales se jouaient chaque année à Broadway5.

Le théâtre de Broadway est la forme de théâtre professionnel la plus connue du public américain et représente les productions les plus prestigieuses, par leurs mises en scène élaborées et la qualité de leurs artistes et techniciens. Avec le West End theatre de Londres, Broadway est considéré comme étant représentatif du plus haut niveau commercial du théâtre dans le monde anglophone.

Circuito de Broadway, llamado simplemente Broadway, es el conjunto de espectáculos teatrales presentados en cada uno de los 40 grandes teatros profesionales que lo forman, con más de 500 localidades, situados en el distrito teatral de la Avenida Broadway y en el Lincoln Center en Manhattan, Nueva York, Estados Unidos. Broadway, junto con el West End theatre, en Londres, son considerados usualmente como los representantes de más alto nivel del teatro comercial en la anglofonía y también en el mundo.

El distrito teatral de Broadway es una atracción turística popular en la ciudad de Nueva York. Según la liga teatral de Broadway, las obras representadas en la temporada 2009-2010 han vendido aproximadamente 1.020 millones de dólares en entradas comparados con los 1000 millones de la temporada anterior.1​

Бродвейский театр (англ. Broadway theatre или просто Бродве́й) — обобщённое название группы из примерно 40 крупных (более 500 мест) коммерческих театров в Нью-Йорке, расположенных вдоль улицы Бродвей в Театральном квартале Манхэттена. Сейчас таких театров насчитывается 41. Бродвей является основой американской театральной культуры. Как полагают культурологи, Бродвей, как и Голливуд, оказал огромное влияние на формирование сегодняшней массовой культуры.[1]

Большинство спектаклей (или «шоу», как говорят американцы) на Бродвее — мюзиклы (около 70 %).[1] Почти все бродвейские шоу очень коммерчески ориентированы. Зачастую на сцене одного театра можно увидеть лишь один спектакль, идущий вечером со вторника по субботу, и заменяющийся на другой только тогда, когда зрители теряют к нему интерес. Для спектаклей, поставленных на Бродвее, существует отдельная, весьма престижная премия «Тони», ежегодно присуждаемая за достижения в области американского театра[2], эту премию считают театральным аналогом «Оскара».

Посещение спектакля на Бродвее — популярное развлечение туристов, посещающих Нью-Йорк. Примерно две трети посетителей Бродвея — приезжие. За сезон 2015—2016 годов спектакли Бродвея посетило более 13 миллионов человек, выручка от продажи билетов превысила 1,3 млрд долларов.[3]
