法王寺位于河南省登封市北五公里的嵩山玉柱峰下，是东汉古刹，建于东汉明帝永平十四年（公元71年），距今已有一千九百多年，比洛阳白马寺晚三年，比少林寺早四百二十四年，是佛教传入中国后建造最早的寺院之一。
