1998年世界杯，齐达内在小组赛吃到红牌，四分之一决赛复出后，齐达内在法兰西体育场对巴西的决赛中梅开二度，也被选入最佳阵容。8年后的德国世界杯，在半决赛打入决胜球的齐达内赢得金球奖，但在决赛时齐达内却离谱的用头撞马特拉齐而吃到红牌。
