嫩江（Nen River），亦作Nen Chiang或Nen Jiang，蒙语意为“碧绿的江”。在黑龙江省，古名难水，明代称脑温江，清初名诺尼江。源出黑龙江省大兴安岭支脉伊勒呼里山，南流在嫩江县以上接纳大兴安岭东坡和小兴安岭西坡流出的许多支流，河水清澈。嫩江是松花江第一大支流，全长1370公里，流域面积29.7万平方公里，出山后进入松嫩平原，在吉林省三岔河镇汇入松花江。嫩江上游有多年冻土带分布，有4个月冰期，江轮可航至齐齐哈尔。嫩江流经坡度很缓的松嫩平原，河道曲折，形成许多湖泊、沼泽。春季融雪和夏秋多雨时常有水患。
