音乐节的创始人克劳德·诺布斯创办了这个活动，它也成为所有节日中最重要的活动之一，并在音乐方面享有着独特且博采众长的盛誉。每一年，多达220000 名旅客为参加音乐节来到蒙特勒，音乐节的音乐会将分别在三个音乐厅举行。一些音乐游轮和音乐火车也是音乐节的一部分。旅客也可以欣赏许多免费的演出：原声 乐器演奏会、声乐、吉他以及钢琴独奏比赛、讨论会等等。更不要忘记了天空下的蒙特勒爵士乐，这个广泛流传于蒙特勒小镇的活动。
对于喜欢夜间活动的人来讲，他们可以选择去欣赏原声乐器演奏会或是出人意料的即兴演奏会，这些演奏会将在蒙特勒爵士俱乐部或是名为蒙特勒爵士咖啡店的原创俱乐部中举行，在这些俱乐部中，国际知名的DJ将引爆全场情绪，带领人群纵夜狂欢，直至天亮。
众多国际媒体的访问，使得蒙特勒爵士音乐节也可在世界各地上演。当然，作为这个独特氛围的一部分，没有什么事是过犹不及的。此外，蒙特勒也有着迷人的、难以
用语言来描绘的景色。游客在食宿方面也有着广泛的选择，从迷人山区的便宜住宿到湖边的五星级饭店都可供旅客选择。
