F-35将是美国与其盟国在21世纪的主力战机，美国空军、海军和海军陆战队总计将装备2,456架[13]，用以取代F-16系列、A-10攻击机、F/A-18系列、AV-8B等机型[14]，加上海外市场后全球订单合计已达3,500架[15][16][17]。英国、意大利、荷兰、澳大利亚、日本、挪威、丹麦、以色列、加拿大、土耳其（已遭禁售[18]）等国均参与研发并可能装备。

Die Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II ist ein Tarnkappen-Mehrzweckkampfflugzeug der fünften Generation, das aus dem Joint Strike Fighter-Programm (JSF) des US-Verteidigungsministeriums hervorgegangen ist. Es soll in den Luftstreitkräften vieler westlicher Staaten die F-16 Fighting Falcon oder noch ältere Flugzeuge ersetzen, wobei die US Air Force weiterhin der mit Abstand größte Abnehmer bleibt. Es ist das vierte von der US Air Force beschaffte Muster eines Kampfflugzeuges mit Stealth-Technik – nach Indienststellung von F-117 Nighthawk (1983), B-2 Spirit (1993), F-22 Raptor (2005) – und das erste, das auch in Partnerländer exportiert wird. Es wird in den Varianten F-35A (konventioneller Start/Landung), F-35B (Senkrechtstart und -landung) und F-35C (trägergestützt) hergestellt.

Der AH-64 Apache [ əˈpætʃi ] ist ein schwer bewaffneter Kampfhubschrauber (engl. attack helicopter, AH), der vor allem von der US Army eingesetzt wird und vom US-amerikanischen Unternehmen Hughes, heute Boeing, entwickelt und produziert wurde.

Im Vietnamkrieg kamen erstmals in größerem Ausmaß Hubschrauber zum Einsatz. Die eingesetzten Modelle waren jedoch überwiegend für Transport- und Aufklärungsaufgaben und nicht für Kampfeinsätze entwickelt worden und nur unzureichend bewaffnet. Zusätzlich bereitete das Tropenklima Schwierigkeiten, da besonders die hoch beanspruchten Bauteile bei der vorherrschenden hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit und Temperatur korrodierten.

Die US-Army schrieb deshalb 1972 einen Entwicklungsauftrag für einen tropenfesten, allwettertauglichen schweren Kampfhubschrauber aus. Das Ergebnis war die AH-56 „Cheyenne“ von Lockheed, ein Kampfhubschrauber für Sturzflugangriffe mit hohen Geschwindigkeiten. Dieses Konzept war in dem Moment überholt, als sich im Praxiseinsatz herausstellte, dass der Hubschrauber durch diese Taktik extrem verwundbar für in seinen Sturzflugwinkel abgefeuerte Boden-Luft-Raketen war. Da das ganze Design der Cheyenne aber auf den Sturzangriff fußte, war das Cheyenne-Konzept nicht nur gefährlich, sondern auch nicht mehr zu verändern und das Projekt AH-56 wurde eingestellt.

Das US-Heer wünschte sich für den zweiten Anlauf zusätzlich höhere Manövrierfähigkeit, Nachteinsatzfähigkeit und herausragende Tiefflugfähigkeiten und war ursprünglich für den Einsatz in bewaldeten, hügeligen und gebirgigen Gebieten Europas und Asiens konzipiert. All dieses konnte der Hughes YAH-64 Prototyp bei seinen Testflügen ab 30. September 1975 eindrucksvoll unter Beweis stellen, so dass der Hubschrauber nach einer gründlichen Testphase 1982 in die Serienproduktion gehen konnte. Bis ins Jahr 2000 wurden dann 1048 Apache in verschiedenen Versionen gebaut und ausgeliefert.[1](Quelle:wikipedia)
